Hi Jan,

I hope you’re doing well.  Well, Tom & I are in LOVE with Duke.  He’s spoiled rotten! He’s 12 weeks now & weighing in around 40lbs.  He’s all legs right now & I expect he’s going to look that way for quite a while.  His ears are standing beautifully.  I don’t know if you keep up with my blog I post about him (www.gak9.blogspot.com)  He’s found his voice the past few weeks & he looooves using it.  It amazes me that big huge deep bark comes out of him!  He has by far been the best puppy I have ever owned.  He is so smart, loyal, willing to please, friendly, courageous, goofy, etc…. I’m sure you know all this.  Will Duke & Gypsy be having another litter? I hope you like the pictures.

It’s been long time since we have talked but I want just give an update and some pictures of our big boy-SAMPSON!  He is the biggest baby I have ever seen, he won’t sleep on the floor and has to sleep in our king size bed!  I have been around Great Danes all my life, and I have never met or owned one with so much personality and loyalty.  Please see pictures.

We are sending you a couple pictures of Brandi. She will be passing her therapy (

class in a couple weeks (at least we hope so) and should be getting her AKC

license. She is a great dog with a loving personality toward everything, dogs

cats. kids, and she loves people. We are really proud of her. She is a fussy

eaterand only weights 105 pounds so far but she is 33 and half inches tall.

We went to East of Cincinnati and got her a sister to play with. Her name is

Sophie and she is a brindle but a little lighter. Brandi just loves her and she

is 18 pounds and 9 weeks old and they play so good together. Brandi gets

one of her toys and holds it down so the pup can get it then she backs in a

circle dragging the pup after her. She is so carefull about it all. She goes to a

place called the windmill (a very bit arts and craft and produce) every Sat and

she had well over 50 people she visits every weekend. We are so glad that we

got her from you. She was a year old on the first so you won't have to look it up.

One is of Brandi and Sophie sleeping together. Please let us know if you

receive these pictures it is my first time sending them.

Hey girl, how's it going, we're doing great! Love my boy! He is wonderful, he is what my heart needed. The joy that he brings is priceless, even when he is doing something bad. We can't help but to laugh at the things he does, he is such a clown. I'm sending these pictures but, there not very good, the camara got wet! He is easily 30 ins at the withers and 90 plus lbs and will eat anything he can reach. LOL!!! Well I'll talk to you Later! Sincerely, Maximus & Family!

Here's some pics of Bella and Sirius.  New Years Day was going to be our Christmas card this year.  Deer Meat is Bella and Sirius tugging at a deer leg they found on our property and brought to the back deck.  The third pic is of them sleeping together, which they did often.  Thanks for our wonderful dogs.  Lynette

Hi Jan!

I just had to take a glance at your web site for old time sake.  We have a 5 year old dane from you (Zoe) from Daisy and Sebastian.
She is such a sweet girl. I don't remember living without her.  Since then we rescued a brother for her. (Gus) He's the picture perfect clumsy dane... all ooff!  They have a ball together.

Thanks so much!  We always let people know where she came from. She has the happiest temper...
Take care.

Hi there!
Atlas is getting big! He's about 70 lbs now. He loves to play and cuddle with mom and dad. I'm attaching a picture of him with me, my mom and her bull mastiff, my brother and his lab mix. He had a blast with his doggie relatives. He and the bull mastiff are great friends. Atlas has also found that he loves kids (almost more than us), he is always looking for the girls that live next door. Even at petsmart he sits for kids to come pet him, oblivious that other dogs are around. It's very cute! We're happy that he likes kids so much- we are having one, due April 7! We love our pup and are so happy to have him!

Sincerely,
  Kristen

Good Day to you….been a while for me to communicate.  Argus is doing well and thought you might like to see some updated photos.  He sends his love to Mom and Dad.  He is growing like a wild weed.  He was at 82lbs a little over a week ago.  Must be at least 85 or more today.  He also was the head of his class at PetsMart puppy class.argus 3.JPG (4156507 bytes)

Hi Jan,IMG_0126.JPG (121577 bytes)

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you regarding Zander. I have been enormously busy lately and the time I do get I like to sit and relax with my buddy watching some movies or finish up the day with a little run. Thus far I couldn't have asked for a better companion. Zander has become not only my best-friend and very dear to me but has also caught the attention of the whole town. Every time I take him somewhere everyone stops and has to pet him, tell him how cute he is and of course, ask where his saddle is. Last time I took him to the vet he weighed in right under 135 lbs. He just had his second birthday and man is he big. I get home from work and he loves to jump up to welcome me, laying his paws across my shoulders and licking my face. I bet he is every bit of my height (5'7") if not more. My family loves him also and he and the kids get along great. He is a great listener and stays in the yard without direction. He also handles himself very well in the truck since he loves to go for a ride so much. If I tell him he can go with me his ears perk up and he gets all excited and waits at the door until I'm ready to leave. I couldn't have asked for a more loyal companion than him and a more beautiful dog. Again, I thank-you for allowing me the opportunity to experience life with a Great Dane. I am so satisfied with him I'll be sure to look you guys up again when I'm ready for another which should hopefully be shortly. Thanks again! I have also attached a couple of pictures. There will be more to come soon. I just have to break him from being camera shy lol.

I just wanted to send you a note to say thank you.  I am so happy that I share my home with Elias!  I couldn’t be happier.  I have to say he is by all accounts the best puppy I have ever seen. He is so calm and loving, everyone he has met falls in love with him! He was potty trained by the first week and has learned sit, down and release very quickly.  He is also making many friends at the Puppy Park by our home.  It is so cute to see Elias play and keep up with his Golden Retriever friends.  There are Great Danes that come there, but we have not been able to meet up with them!

He comes with me to work with me and if I get up to get a file, he climbs in my chair and presses the keys on my computer!

You should see the size of his feet, my vet thinks that he will be a very, very big boy!

I have attached a few pictures so you can see how he has grown.

Thanks to you and to your parents for plowing through all of that bad Chicago weather to bring him to his new home.

Regards,

Taylor and Elias

Subject: Fiona

Hi Jan, I just want you to know that Fiona is Great. She was spayed and micro chipped and is fully recovered and doing fabulous. We are feeding her Bill Jac dog food Large breed. She loves it! She's 120 Pounds now and about 5ft 7 inches standing up. She just got a brand new pink sparkly collar and leash and she is an expert car rider. She has to go even to the corner store with me every time. Everyone loves her. When we go to the pet store to get her food I can never get out of there because every one wants to pet her. She was jumping up but we have completely eliminated that with help from her trainer and much persistence. She can be a handful as she gets separation anxiety even though she is left alone for no more than 5 hours ever! She still sleeps in a king size Sterns and Foster lol and just for a laugh I thought I would tell you I had a friend stay over for the weekend and she slept in my room. Fiona peed on her while she was sleeping. Could you Die! It was so funny. She didn't think so but I think Fiona was letting her know that her bed is off limits! Luckily for me I have a waterproof Mattress cover due to my 2 year old. She is not nipping anymore she grew out of that so her and Timmy are getting along great now. He's learned as she has that he is the boss of her! He can walk her on a leash no problem. She never pulls on a leash thanks to her trainer Shelly from Cairn Dale Kennels. She's my little princess. Her vet loves her! Or maybe his new Mercedes due to her huge vet bills lol. She's my best friend and I just want to thank you and I cant wait to see your new litter. I do still want a little brindle boy and I will wait as long as it takes. I will send you a pic of her and her new collar and leash as soon as my husband gets off the desk top all my pics are on that computer and Fiona and I are laying in bed with the lap top like the lazy princesses that we are lol.

Have a good day!

Hi Jan. I'm just fine and Coty is too. I just love him. He is about 32 inches tall and is around 107 pounds. He is now in his next level of training. We go once a week and he just loves it. I take him everywhere. We go over to the vet next to us and he visits with everyone and the doctor, and then gets weighed in. I also bring him in the work once in a while to see everyone. At Xmas we went to the pet store and had his picture taken with Santa. I still call him my little man even if he is a big moose. I
always check your website to see if there's anything new. Still thinking that I might want another one if you breed Artic. He the next month or two Coty will be going over to lose his manhood. Thought I would let him keep it for a little while. Well talk to you soon. Marge

Subject: Harley Update

Hi Jan,

Just wanted to let you know Harley weighed in at 37lbs at his last vet visit on Monday! Got a clean bill of health. He sure is growing fast. Certainly keeps me on my toes. Its so neat to watch him grow into his own personality more and more every day. He gets along fantastic with my sheltie. Is constantly looking for him if hes not there. He snores SO LOUD! I can only imagine what he will sound like when hes full grown. He loves being around anyone that comes over. But, he hates it if anyone sits next to mom. That's his spot and he doesnt really like to share it. Its pretty darn cute. Oh also, hes got a lot of blue spots on his now big white toes. Some blue spots are coming through on the white spot on his chest as well. He's getting more and more handsome every day. Thanks so much for producing such a wonderful dog! I sure do love him. Also, was wondering if Blue had her litter of pups yet?

Hope everything is going well with you. Have a wonderful holiday!!

Hi Jan, Well, I tried to send pictures of Sirius but I don't think they went through. Anyway Sirius is growing so fast and we're loving him up. He's so smart and funny and rowdy. He got to visit some fellow danes. A friend of mine has two danes- one adult, one teenager . Sirius had a ball with them and slept like a rock when he got home. He gets car sick. We're trying to take him on short rides to help him outgrow it. I'm again interested in getting a female. Got any litters on the way? I'll try sending a picture again after this email. At least this I'm sure will go through. Thanks for our beautiful baby. We really love him. Loon

I just love him. When I get some good pictures and will e-mail them to you. Thanks again, Marge Krenn

I love her so much already I think I want another little girl or maybe boy I don't know. After I get her spayed that is! Don't want a house full of babies ha ha.

Jan,

Sorry I've taken so long to write, summer is such a busy time. Lucy and I have had so much fun. Three months old now, she weighs 33#. I want you to know I have never had a dog with such a wonderful temperament. Housebreaking was easy, she is walking well on a leash and obeys a few commands. Her personality keeps everyone entertained. I would recommend River Valley to anyone interested in a Great Dane. Thank you again.

Her name is Lucy. She is adjusting well. She follows me like a shadow, such a little baby. She is wonderful. She is a cuddler. Thank you again. I will send pics and keep you updated on her progress.

Jan,

Thanks for the reply. Any news on Daisy and Sebastian’s next litter? Also, curious if Goliath is going to be the father of any litters this coming fall?

Duke is 160 lbs of joy. He is the tallest Great Dane we have ever come across, he is so large and handsome he leaves people staring with their mouths wide open. He goes everywhere with us and loves attention from adoring fans. Shane and I are expecting a baby in June and we know Duke will be great with a child. Great Danes are such a wonderful dog we are strongly considering getting one of Goliaths puppies in the fall once things calm down a little with the new baby.

Thank you,

Carrie

Hi, this is Bret Crandell and we received a fawn male from you right before Christmas. I just wanted to let you know that Kargo is doing great and we love him to death! He has been to two out of three vet appointments and the vet said he looks perfectly healthy. We can't believe how fast he is growing. He was about 13 pounds when we got him and is currently well over 30. It's quite a job carrying him up or down the stairs when he is feeling afraid, and I'm sure next month will be twice as difficult! He rarely has an accident, and when he does I think the poor thing feels bad about it. Since we didn't opt for the papers, do you know what exact day he was born on? Just curious for our and the vet's records. Everyone who sees him loves him and jokes that they are going to steal him. I have had a few people who were interested in getting a dane ask me about him. I told them to check out your website. If I hear of anyone else, I'll send them your way. Thanks again!! Bret

Hello there!
We love our puppy... so far named Rocky... he's an absolute joy; and already getting better overnight and being potty trained. Going outside well! He definitely doesn't like the cold though! Please thank Kris for me... what a sweetheart! Oh, and thanks so much for the blanket for him! Its been well used. Hailey (my 4 yr old daughter) absolutely loves him and is a great help with him. I'll send you some pictures as I get my camera fixed up that I got for Christmas!! He's definitely loved and in good hands here... thank you so much! Sorry about the delay in email, but over that holiday time our power and everything was wiped out, and I just got our computer connection running again. I'll try to send you emails periodically about the puppy...Thanks again!
Love,
The Kalamaras Family

Hello Jan,

I wanted to apologize for not getting this letter to you sooner.

We wanted to Thank You so much for our puppy. We love him so much and have gotten so many compliments on him.

I took him in today to get a weight check for his heart worm and he is now a whopping 42pds.

I wanted to tell you our vet told us to feed him apples and

carrots to help with the growth of his bones. He loves them.

We can't believe how smart he is. He has picked

up on everything we teach him that day.

It's awesome!!

Thank you again if you ever need anyone to ever

call us to ask about our puppy we got from

you it's not a problem. We will send pictures

soon.

Can you send me the picture of his dad again

to keep on file to compare?

Thank you again

Tonya&Nate

My name is Carrie, and I am writing to inquirer about Sebastian and Daisy’s next litter. My husband and I bought a puppy from you last year (September 28, 2003 litter). Our dog (Duke) is such a quality boy that one of our very best friends cannot live without one of his own. So, he was wondering when your next litter is and when he could reserve a male. I am always telling him how beautiful your dogs are so I was wondering if you had any pictures of Sebastian? I showed him Daisy on your website.

Also, I was wondering if you had any business cards that you could send me. I constantly get questions on where we got such a quality boy.

I attached a picture so you could see the three of us. I can’t explain to you how loved this dog is by all who know him. He is 16 months old now and weights 161 pounds. He is an absolute joy to live with. We are considering getting another one in the spring but this time I want one of Goliaths puppies, he is truly magnificent.

So, if you could call or email with any information on Sebastian and Daisy’s next litter we can let our friend know a time frame for his puppy.

Thank you,

Carrie

Hey ]an.

Well in reference to the way that you and myself communicated, was great. You answered all my questions with detail and quickness. If any one was to ask me

where i purchased my pup from I would without second thought recommend you and River Valley Ranch.

The shipping process for shipping a great dane pup was not as hard as I thought. The person shipping the pup needs the purchasers contact information and mailing address. Depending on the weather is the main issue.

The shipping of the pup is completely safe through the air.

Let me know if you need anything else or if this is good enough.

MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED OUR FIRST DANE FROM JAN AND TONY IN THE SPRING OF 2003.

WHAT A WELL ADJUSTED AND AFFECTIONATE PUPPY SHE WAS, AND IS AN AWESOME DOG NOW. WE THEN GOT OUR SECOND DANE IN JULY AND AGAIN COULDN'T OF DONE BETTER ELSEWHERE,  CONCERNING DOG AND BREEDER. i HAD A LITTLE PROBLEM PAYING MY BILL, AND JAN ONLY KNOWING ME FROM OUR FEW CONVERSATIONS FOR OUR ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE FIRST DOG WAS WONDERFUL ABOUT WAITING FIVE MONTH'S TO GET THE REMAINDER OF HER MONEY, NEVER ONCE SAID WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO PAY. NOT SAYING SHE WOULD WANT TO MAKE A PRACTICE OF ALLOWING PEOPLE TO BE DELINQUENT OR MAKE PAYMENTS CAUSE SHE HAS TO PAY HER BILLS ALSO, BUT SHE HAS A GREAT COOPERATIVE AND UNDERSTANDING PERSONALITY, THAT'S A RARE QUALITY TO FIND IN BUSINESS PEOPLE. JAN, I KNOW, THINKS OF HER PETS AND THE HOME THEIR GOING TO, BEFORE SHE PROCEEDS, WHICH MAKES HER ALL THE MORE REASON I FOR ONE WOULD WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS TYPE OF FAMILY. To Whom this Concerns,

I have known Jan Wenick for 2 years and have breed my Great Dane Sebastian with her

numerous times. Jan is a very responsible breeder and very caring and nurturing with the dogs. I

have no problem leaving Sebastian with her for breeding or even to show him to prospective buyers. She is very easy to work with and very fair with everything to do with the breeding process. I know she is like myself and is very dedicated to this breed and their well being. She has a big heart, just as the Gentle Giants she raises.

I totally love the puppy that I purchased from you and continue to grow fonder and fonder of her with each day that passes.
